Community Picnic

Friday Night Kick-Off

Picnic Water Side

We are excited to welcome back the Community Picnic for the 2022 festival.  The Community Picnic will be on Friday evening (June 3rd) instead of Thursday.  We are hoping this gives families in our community a better opportunity to attend the picnic and other events that are happening at the park on Friday evening.

The Community Picnic will be held Friday, June 3rd at 5:00 p.m. at Haradine Park.  The picnic will officially kick off the beginning of the 50th annual Carson City Frontier Days festival.  Gather your family, lawn chairs, and a blanket and head to the park for a great evening of fun.

While at the picnic you will be able to enjoy the beautiful walking trails or find a cozy spot on the banks of Fish Creek to catch up with family, friends, and neighbors.  We will have our D.J. Dave Klienhardt with us to play great music throughout the night.

Claire Elizabeth Photography will be at the Community Picnic offering two great photo opportunities.  There will be a Firework Stand for kids and a beautiful couch set up for families to get their pictures taken.  The charge is $5 for the Firework Stand and $10 for the whole family on the couch.  Photos will be posted online on Claire's photo gallery and you are able to download your picture.  All proceeds from this great event will be used by Claire in her project to get teachers and students supplies needed for the next school year.   This is a great opportunity and so much fun.

Our traditional Duck Race will take place at 6:30 p.m. down Fish Creek.  Make sure you purchase a ticket or two from the Frontier Days staff for only $5.  The ducks will begin their swim near the north bridge and the first three ducks that reach the covered bridge will be declared the winners and will receive a cash prize.  There are a limited number of tickets, so make sure you get yours and join in the fun.

The Community Picnic is always a great night for our community.  It is a great way to bring the residents of Carson City together to celebrate.  Haradine Park is the place to be on June 3rd.  There will be plenty of food and fun for everyone.  We hope to see you there.

Make sure to stay after the picnic to watch the balloon launch and glows from the park as well.

* Festival shirts, pins, scavenger hunts, coloring contest sheets, and the 50th anniversary souvenir will be available at the picnic as well *

Buckaroo & Grand Parades

The 2022 Frontier Days festival will be hosting two parades this year.  We are excited to be able to add these community favorites back to the schedule.  We hope

the entire community will come down to Main Street Carson City with their lawn chairs/blankets to pick their favorite spot to watch the parades.  It will be fun for the entire family.

303655 425639550800271 3485545 nThe Buckaroo Parade will be held at 1:15 p.m. on Saturday, June 4th.  Line up will begin at the post office parking lot at 1:00 p.m.  We invite all the kids in the community to participate in the parade.  With a little imagination and a few supplies, you can deck our your wagons, bikes, and trikes. Don't feel like riding - grab some friends and get dressed up showing your best 'Frontier Days' spirit and walk in the parade.

Let's make this a Buckaroo Parade like no other.  Get creative!.

The parade will begin at 1:15 p.m. and travel down Main Street from the post office to the Michigan 1 Community Credit Union parking lot.  (Traveling in reverse this year to match the Grand Parade route). We will have some volunteers to help with the parade.  All participants will receive a treat for participating.

The Grand Parade will begin at 1:30 p.m.  This year the parade route will be from the corner of Linden and Willams Streets to Main Street.  It will continue to travel down Main Street to the east and turn north at Michigan 1 Community Credit Union.  The parade will end at Carson City-Crystal High School.

No early registration is required.  Everyone is welcome to participate.  We ask all participants to go to line up at the corner of Division and Garfield Streets.  Volunteers will be there to direct you to your spot.  We ask that if you want our announcer to mention your business name or details about you entry that you have your entry clearly labeled.

Tethered Balloon Rides

To celebrate 50 years of Carson City Frontier Days, we are offering a very special event.  On Friday (June 3rd) and Saturday (June 4th) evenings at Fort Frontier Park we will be offering tethered hot air balloon rides.  For all of you who have wondered what it would be like to go up in a balloon, here is your chance.

screen shot 2022 01 17 at 4.58.21 pmA tethered ride is a shorter experience than a typical fight where the balloon is anchored to the ground. You go up about 50 to 75 feet in the air for approximately a 5-minute experience. You will have an FAA certified pilot in the balloon basket with you. This is a great way to get the experience of flying in a hot air balloon.

These rides will be given on a first come first serve basis.  The number of people that can go up at a time depends on weight of passengers.  Children five years of age and over can participate in a tethered ride, but a parent or legal guardian must be with them at all times.  Remember that hot air balloon burners are hot and make loud sounds so if your child is easily frightened, you may want to wait until they are a bit older to participate.

Tickets can be purchased at Fort Frontier Park prior to the flight.  Ticket prices are $20 for 13 year olds on up and $10 for 12 year olds and under.  All participants must sign a waiver of liability and pay their fee at the registration table.  Cash is the only form for ticket payment.
