Tethered Balloon Rides
To celebrate 50 years of Carson City Frontier Days, we are offering a very special event. On Friday (June 2nd) and Saturday (June 3rd) evenings at Fort Frontier Park we will be offering tethered hot air balloon rides. For all of you who have wondered what it would be like to go up in a balloon, here is your chance.
A tethered ride is a shorter experience than a typical fight where the balloon is anchored to the ground. You go up about 50 to 75 feet in the air for approximately a 5-minute experience. You will have an FAA certified pilot in the balloon basket with you. This is a great way to get the experience of flying in a hot air balloon.
These rides will be given on a first come first serve basis. The number of people that can go up at a time depends on weight of passengers. Children five years of age and over can participate in a tethered ride, but a parent or legal guardian must be with them at all times. Remember that hot air balloon burners are hot and make loud sounds so if your child is easily frightened, you may want to wait until they are a bit older to participate.
Tickets can be purchased at Fort Frontier Park prior to the flight. Ticket prices are $20 for 13 year olds on up and $10 for 12 year olds and under. All participants must sign a waiver of liability and pay their fee at the registration table. Cash is the only form for ticket payment.
*AS ALWAYS, ALL BALLOON EVENTS ARE SUBJECT TO WEATHER*
